The Maggot Loop
Converting organic farm waste into 45% protein Black Soldier Fly Larvae meal — cutting feed costs and closing our circular economy.
Circular Economy Flow
Our integrated loop eliminates external waste streams and reduces dependency on commercially produced soya by 30%. Every unit of waste becomes a unit of nutrition.
Black Soldier Fly Larvae
Hermetia illucens — nature's most efficient bioconverter. Converts organic matter 100× faster than composting with zero odor.
14-Day Production Cycle
Egg Inoculation (Day 1)
BSF eggs sourced from our breeder colony are placed on fresh organic substrate. Each gram of eggs yields approximately 500 larvae.
Active Feeding (Days 2–10)
200 kg of organic waste from our piggery and kitchen is loaded daily. Larvae consume and convert at a 5:1 ratio — fully odorless.
Pre-pupal Harvest (Days 11–14)
Larvae are auto-separated from frass using vibrating sieve. Harvested pre-pupae are sun-dried or mechanically dried to 10% moisture.
Milling & Integration
Dried larvae are hammer-milled into fine meal and blended at 15–30% inclusion rates into Noble Farms poultry and fish feed formulations.
Frass — Zero Waste
The residual frass (larval castings) is a certified organic fertiliser with NPK ratios superior to most chemical alternatives. It is bagged and used across our farm plots, eliminating the need for external fertiliser inputs.
Environmental Impact
Integrated With Our Piggery
The Maggot Unit is directly fed by piggery organic waste, creating a zero-discharge loop between both departments. Learn more about how the piggery operates.
